The Email Message Queue is a repository of emails generated by Approval Manager and waiting to be sent or that failed to send. Approval Manager attempts to send email in the Email Message Queue approximately every minute according to the following:
- Approval Manager will attempt to send any email message in the queue with a status of Pending.
- Approval Manager will attempt to send any failed email messages up to ten times. You can also go in and manually resend any failed email.
It is important to know that some emails are sent immediately by Approval Manager, while others are sent only when the Email Message Queue is processed. Emails that are sent immediately are referred to as On-demand Emails and include password reset emails, and new account emails. Such emails do not appear in the Email Message Queue unless they fail to send. Emails that are queued are referred to as Queued Emails and include daily schedule emails, review status updates, etc.
The Email Message Queue has several uses for the administrator. Failed email messages can indicate improper configuration of the email settings or other problems (outside the scope of Approval Manager) that prohibit Approval Manager from successfully sending email messages (for example, a stalled SMTP server). Furthermore, by storing failed email messages, the administrator can resolve the underlying problem that prevented the emails from being sent and thereafter choose to resend failed messages (or delete them from the queue entirely without resending).

Email Message Queue Details
Status (Display Restriction) | The status of email messages to display. One of three values may be selected:

Filter | Restricts the display of emails in the Email Message Queue to those that match the text entered in the Filter field. Any email messages that include the filter text in their From, To, Subject, or Error fields will be displayed. | ||
Selection Controls | Selects messages in the email message queue according to the following:

Delete | Deletes the selected emails from the Email Message Queue. See Deleting Queued Emails for more information. | ||
Resend | Resends the selected emails from the Email Message Queue. See Resending Queued Emails for more information. | ||
Message Status | The current status of each email message. Email messages in the Email Message Queue can have one of the following statuses:

Last Attempt | The date and time that Approval Manager last attempted to send the email message. | ||
Attempts | The number of times that Approval Manager has attempted to send the email message. Approval Manager will retry to send failing email messages 10 times. Approval Manager will not attempt to resend email messages that have failed over 10 times unless the Administrator manually forces Approval Manager to resend the email (see Resending Queued Emails for additional details). | ||
From | The From address information in the email message. This information is configured in the Email Notifications page. Read Email Notifications for more information. From information can also be used to filter the email messages displayed in the Email Message Queue. See Filtering Queued Emails for additional details. |

To | The To address (destination address) in the email message. This information is specific to each user and is defined in each user's user details page. Subject | The Subject line for each email message. This information is specific to the reason that the email was generated and is being sent. This is not user-configurable. Subject information can also be used to filter the email messages displayed in the Email Message Queue. See Filtering Queued Emails for additional details. |

Error | Emails that fail to send display an informative error message in the Email Message Queue. This information can be used to help the administrator diagnoses, troubleshoot, and resolve problems sending emails. Error information can also be used to filter the email messages displayed in the Email Message Queue. See Filtering Queued Emails for additional details. |
Resending Queued Emails
1. Click the Email Message Queue link on the Administrator tab. The Email Message Queue page will open.
2. Select the emails you want to resend. Use Shift+Click to select a sequential range of emails. Use CTRL+Click to select multiple individual emails.

3. Click the Resend button in the upper-right corner of the page. Approval Manager will attempt to resend all selected emails a maximum of ten times.
Deleting Queued Emails
1. Click the Email Message Queue link on the Administrator tab. The Email Message Queue page will open.
2. Select the emails you want to resend. Use Shift+Click to select a sequential range of emails. Use CTRL+Click to select multiple individual emails.

3. Click the Delete button in the upper-right corner of the page. Approval Manager will delete all selected emails selected.
Displaying Queued Emails by Status
1. Click Email Message Queue link on the Administrator tab. The Email Message Queue page will open. By default, the Email Message Queue is set to display queued emails with any status; that is, it will show queued emails with either a status of Failed or of Pending.
2. Click the Status drop-down and select a status. The page will refresh to show only those emails with the selected status. A status of Failed will show only emails in the queue with a status of Failed. A status of Pending will show only emails in the queue with a status of Pending. A status of Any will show emails in the queue with either status.
Filtering Queued Emails
1. Click Email Message Queue in the Administrator tab. The Email Message Queue page will open.
2. Type the text you want to filter messages in Filters field. Email messages can be filtered on failure text, From text, To text, and Subject text.
3. Click Go. The page will refresh and only those messages that match the filter text will appear in the list.
Reviewing Queued Emails
1. Click Email Message Queue on the Administrator tab. The Email Message Queue page will open.
2. Click the From, To, or Subject hyperlink text for the email you want to review. The contents of the selected email will be displayed.
3. From this page, you can view all the information pertaining to this particular email notification.
