Configuring Ports

Ports are created as a method to provide communication and connections between the client applications and the Application Server. A TCP/IP port must be defined within the Application Server before a client application can be used.

To configure ports in the Application Server Shell:

1. Select Ports from the Configuration menu. This will open the Ports Setup dialog box.

1. To configure the TCP/IP Port, type the appropriate port number in the Port Number field. By default, the Application Server uses port number 7000 for its TCP/IP port number.
2. Click OK. This will save the changes you have made to the port configuration. For these changes to take effect, you will need to restart the Application Server.
3. Restart the Application Server by selecting Stop from the Server menu (to stop the Application Server) and then selecting Start from the Server menu (to restart the Application Server).

At this point, the new port configuration is in effect. If for any reason the Application Server does not start, please refer to the Application Log in the Event Viewer program provided with the Windows Server operating system.
