Retrieving Using Helper Applications

Helper Applications can be used to assist in the process of retrieving files that have been previously archived with Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer. To use a Helper in the retrieval process, it must first be enabled by the Administrator. Once enabled, Helpers will be available for selection in the Retrieve Options window. The Administrator can select specific helpers from those that are enabled to appear as the default selection for certain media types. Even if a default Helper has been set by the Administrator, users can choose from enabled Helpers when retrieving files and folders.

Retrieving with the CA ARCserve Backup Helper

This Helper is designed to assist archive tasks in environments where CA ARCserve Backup is used to manage writing files to tape media.

  1. Select the CA ARCserve Backup Helper in the Retrieval Options window.
  2. Select a destination to which you want to retrieve the files and folders.
  3. Make the remaining selections in the Retrieval Options window as you normally would.
  4. Click Continue ( ) when finished. A Restore job will be created in the CA ARCserve Backup Manager.
  5. Run the Restore Job in the CA ARCserve Backup Manager at your convenience.
