The Image Portal Web Client allows you to search for files and folders referenced within the Digital Storage Manager or Virtual Ticket with Digital Storage Manager database. Search functionality is provided based on the range of metadata that has been associated with files and folders. However, the Administrator may limit the scope of individual user searches by restricting a user’s searches to files and folders with the same customer code as the user and by adding permanent criteria to any search defined by the user. For example, if an account is created for a user with Customer Code XYZ and a search condition Document Type = PDF, that user will only be able to search for PDF files with his/her customer code.
Additionally, the Administrator may have limited the fields which are available for you to search on.
Searching for files and viewing file properties
1. In the first search criteria level, select a Field to search on, select an Operation to use (equals, containing, less than, etc...), and type a Value in the value field.
2. Repeat step 1 to create as many individual search criteria options as needed.
NOTE: You may add or subtract as many search criteria items as needed by selecting 5 More or 5 Less at the bottom of the page.
3. OPTIONAL: Type the number of images per page you want to view and the number of images per line in the appropriate fields. The default number of images listed per page is 30 while the default number of images per line is 3.
4. Click SEARCH at the bottom of the page. This instructs the system to search the database for any images to which you have access and that meet your criteria. If the search yields more than one page of images, the number range buttons on the left may be used to navigate between pages.
5. PREVIEW: Click the thumbnail image of a file to view its preview. If there is a preview for the file in the database, the web client will display it in a new web browser window. If the original file contains multiple pages, you may use the Forward/Reverse buttons to navigate the pages within the preview.
Note: Acrobat Reader 6.0 or greater is required to view previews for PDF files. Previews for this files will open in Acrobat Reader.
6. PROPERTIES: Click Properties in the thumbnail cell to view detailed file property information for a file or folder. The Properties window will appear, with tabs for displaying both the standard and extend metadata for the image.
