Commenting in Spark!

Introduction

Spark! makes it very easy for you to add a comment to an annotation. Whenever you make an annotation, a comment will appear which allows you to type a comment, attach files, reply to a comment, choose an annotation color, and delete an annotation. For more information on annotations, read Annotating in Spark!. Below are a list of comment features which will help you further understand how comments work in Spark!.

Adding Comments to a Proof

1. Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.

2. Click the comment tool.

3. Click an area in the document where you wish to place your comment. A yellow comment box will appear.

3. Type your comment. Unless deleted by you, comments will be visible to you and to other users of Approval Manager.

5. Minimize the comment by clicking the minimize button in the upper-right corner of the comment box.

4. To delete a comment, select the Delete link under the text box, next to the Attach file(s) link. This will also delete any pen, box, or arrow markup attached to the comment.

Visibility of comments by other users may be further restricted depending on whether or not it is a private or public review.

Viewing Comments

There are two ways to view comments in spark. Both are explained below.

1. Click the Comments tab in the right sidebar. Comments and their text will be listed. (see image right) Clicking on a comment will highlight the corresponding icon (arrow, box, comment bubble) in the image.

2. Double-click a comment icon, arrow, or box drawn on the proof. The comment text will open in a comment dialogue over the image.

Visibility of comments by other users may be further restricted depending on whether or not it is a private or public review.

Replying to a Comment

A reply to a comment can be made by selecting Reply under the text-area on the pop-up comment. You can delete your comment by selecting Delete under the text-area.

New comments will appear in real-time as they are made in Spark!. This means that if someone makes a comment while you are in Spark!, you will immediately see it without having to reload Spark! or refresh the page.

Attaching a File to a Comment

Files can be attached to a comment to make it easy to reference and exchange files. To attach a file, select Attach File(s) under the comment text-area.

An Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) will pop-up. Navigate to and select the file you want to attach to the comment.

Once uploaded, the file will appear below the comment. Users can now click on the file icon to download the file. The file can be deleted by clicking the red X that appears when you hover over the file icon.

Multiple files can be attached to a comment.
