Creates new folders in the selected location. When used, folders and Jobs are created in the database and corresponding folders are created in the file system. | |
Displays the Context Menu. | |
Opens the currently displayed form for editing digital resource information. | |
Lists the available forms for the selected digital resource. By default, the Job form will be displayed when viewing a Job, and the Digital Resource form will be displayed when viewing files and folders within a Job. | |
Deletes the selected digital resource(s) from the database. (This does not delete the corresponding files/folders in the file system. If the files/folders are in a location monitored by InterSync, they will be re-added to the database the next time InterSync scans the location.) | |
Displays the available servers, volumes, folders, and Media Shelf for navigation. The navigation pane displays all locations from which digital resources have been created for files and folders. | |
Displays the selected form used for displaying digital resource information. |
- Select a location you want to create the folder in.
- Click New and New Folder. The location field is automatically filled in according to the location selected in the navigation pane.
- Type a folder name and click Add. A new folder will be created in the file system location selected in the navigation pane and a corresponding digital resource for the folder will be created in the database.
- Click the location you want to create the Job in.
- Click New and select New Job.
- Complete the New Job Folder Form.
- Click Add. A new folder located in the file system location selected in the navigation pane will be will be created for the new Job and a corresponding digital resource for the Job will be created in the database.
To edit digital resource information in a form:
- Select a form in the Form selector.
- Click Edit.
- Make any changes necessary to the form.
- Click Update. The changes will be saved to the database.
- Select a digital resource corresponding to the file(s), folder(s), or Job(s) you want to Archive.
- Open the Context Menu, then click Archive.
- Chose a destination folder and media options in the Archive Options window. Then click Choose. The files and folders in the file system will be archived.
To copy file/folder to other locations using Copy/Retrieve:
- Select the digital resources in the navigation pane whose corresponding files/folders you want to copy.
- Click Copy/Retrieve in the Context Menu. If Digital Storage Manager can find the files at the expected location in the file system, it will open the Choose Destination window. If Digital Storage Manager cannot find the files in the expected location of the file system, it will open the Retrieval Options window.
- Select a destination location for the files/folders.
- Click Choose. The files/folders will be copied to the file system location specified.
To copy files/folders to other locations using Drag and Drop:
- Drag and drop a digital resource to a destination in Finder. The files and folders associated with the digital resource will be copied to the location selected in Finder.
To retrieve files and folders:
- Select a digital resource in the navigation pane whose corresponding files/folders you would like to retrieve.
- Click Copy/Retrieve in the Context Menu.
- Retrieve the files using the Retrieval Options window.
Retrieve is used for unavailable files and folders.
To view digital resource properties for a file or folder:
- Select a digital resource in the navigation pane.
- Click the Context Menu button. The Context Menu will open.
- Click View-> Properties on the Context Menu. The Properties window will open for the selected digital resource.
To view the preview of a digital resource:
- Select a digital resource in the navigation pane.
- Click the Context Menu button. The Context Menu will open.
- Click View-> Preview in the context menu. The Preview window will open for the selected digital resource. Previews for PDF files will open in the default PDF viewer configured in the Windows operating system.
To view the digital resource in a new File Board:
- Select a digital resource in the navigation pane
- Click Open in New File Board from the context menu. The digital resource will open in a new File Board window.
